Where the Mind Sprocket staff writes about inspiration, communication, culture, storytelling, and more.

The Back Page is where the feet go up on the desk at the end of the day. It’s that good book with a mug of hot cocoa just before bed. It’s where we goof off after a hard day’s work. The Back Page is our blog.

Maybe you’re already inspired, and maybe you have other sources to cure writer’s block and turn out reams of delicious prose. If that’s true, then it’s totally awesome!

But have you yet taken the time to come up with a title - perhaps one of the most loathed parts of the entire writing process?

Maybe you already have a title. Neat. Maybe after writing the entire piece and coming up with the title, you’re finished, through, ready to throw your writing out the window because you’re so sick of looking at it and thinking about it. Don’t throw your pages to the wind … instead, use the cut-up machine.

And if you’re not ready to try writing a pantoum just yet, try the poem engine for some careless poetry fun.

Maybe you don’t want to admit it, but you could use a few writing prompts.

Well, then, click away to Language is a Virus, a site full of fun, dark, strange, and inspirational writer’s tools.

One of my favorite links is Bernadette Mayer’s 82 Writing Prompts.

Explore, have some fun, and maybe learn some things, too.

Are you okay with that?
Are we meant to create truth or
Are we meant to find it?
