For months and months, The Back Page was just a picture on a flat screen promising better things to come. But now, The Back Page is up and running! From now on, you can expect daily (or nearly daily) updates from the Mind Sprocket staff. We work from Illinois to Georgia to Maryland to Pennsylvania and sometimes on the road at places in between, to bring to you the best writing and art we can find.
We’ve been looking forward to seeing this long term goal through, and have been pretty thoughtful in figuring out what exactly we want the Back Page to say. This is what we came up with: anything. Our theme is creativity. At it’s best, creativity is not constrained by outlines or length limits or timed schedules. No, it flies about in our heads, to the paper, and when it comes, you’ve got to take advantage of it and get it all down.
Then you’ve got to tell others.
That’s why we’re starting to publish new poetry and prose every two weeks in the magazine … and that’s why we’ve launched The Back Page. Here’s some of what you can expect: from a list of useful how-to’s every Tuesday, from the photo of the funny looking mystery vegetable I got at the grocery store, to a great quote from C.S. Lewis, to writing prompts, to updates on Mind Sprocket, to anything else we can come up with that will surprise and delight you. If we’re really lucky, it will make you think differently or from a different angle about something. If we’re even luckier, you’ll write about it and send it to us!
The creators and maintainers of Mind Sprocket are writers, artists, editors, and web designers. Now, we’ve got a bit of education and experience under our belts, but we know that there is always something more to work towards. We want our goal of being the classiest and brightest story publisher ever to be shared by all of those who have contributed to Mind Sprocket in some way, whether by submitting pieces, editing them, providing art, giving criticism where it was due, or by being an encouragement simply by reading. We love you and hope you will continue with us on our path to transforming the dream of publishing wonderfully crafted art and words into reality.
Happy reading, all, and check back with us soon.
